Through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, the federal government has scheduled a meeting of the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage (NSIWC).
The planned date of the meeting is Tuesday, June 4. The organized labor negotiation team departed the previous meeting of the committee suddenly on May 31st, citing refusals from the government and organized business sector to raise their offer of N60,000.
Meanwhile, Banks, Schools, Ministries, Hospitals, and lots more are closed amid the ongoing strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress. Workers demand better wages and improved conditions, echoing through empty corridors and silent classrooms.
As the nation’s heartbeat slows, the call for fair treatment reverberates louder, uniting voices in solidarity across the land.
