President Bola Tinubu’s minimum salary of N70,000 for Nigerian workers has been agreed, according to the leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

President Bola Tinubu also promised to identify measures to assist the private sector and sub-national entities in meeting the minimum wage requirement, according to a statement made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy.

After the meeting, Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), gave a media briefing and reaffirmed that the unions had accepted the offer.

Ajaero said that the unions had accepted the offer since there were additional incentives connected. He was joined by Comrade Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other leaders of Nigerian workers.

He added that another reason he decided to accept the offer was the president’s promise of a review every three years, as opposed to what had previously been received.
